The Nations are coming to our neighborhoods; help welcome them into community.
Background
Between 2000 and 2014, Seattle was the 8th largest city for refugee resettlement in the U.S. Over the past 10 years, more than 30,000 refugees from over 70 countries have resettled in Washington state through the US Refugee Admissions Program. In the last 10 years, the percentage of foreign-born residents in the greater Seattle area has grown from 21% to 32%
The greatest need is temporary housing and resettlement resources. However, as many organizations provide both, the even greater human and spiritual need is community, friendship, and encountering the love of Jesus Christ
As individuals, we feel confused and inadequate, leaving us asking, “How can we help?” As churches, we feel ill equipped. We are unprepared in understanding, engaging in conversation, building relationships, and providing “goodwill” to those who are pouring into our communities. As a community of businesses and civic organizations we can feel overstretched and overwhelmed.
We're here to help by bringing individuals to the needs and resources through relationships and connections.

Our Mission Statement
Sojourner Home is a Christian faith-based organization committed to providing short-term housing, support, and community integration for refugees and asylees in the Pacific Northwest. Established in 2023, we respond to the growing need for temporary housing and resettlement resources in the region, acknowledging the significant human and spiritual needs along the assimilation journey.
Our mission is to create a welcoming campus that serves as a safe haven for refugee and asylee families, offering housing for up to one year. In collaboration with local churches, businesses, and individuals, we empower volunteers to engage in healthy, cross-cultural relationships, fostering community, friendship, and support.
At the heart of Sojourner Home is a commitment to bridging individuals to needs and resources through meaningful connections. Our community center, playground, and community garden serve as spaces for cultural exchange, English classes, and on-site assistance provided by dedicated volunteers.
As a Christian organization, we embrace individuals of all faiths and worldviews, seeking to connect them to their communities, faith groups, schools, and beyond. While our actions are rooted in the love of Jesus, we welcome everyone, and opportunities exist for those interested in learning more about Christianity, though it is not a requirement for housing or services.
Bringing hope and belonging, while connecting cultures and communities, Sojourner Home is a beacon of compassion, linking donors, volunteers, and community partners to the profound work of fostering relationships and providing support for those who have embarked on a new chapter in their lives. Together, we navigate the complexities of cultural understanding, friendship, and integration, creating a vibrant tapestry of community and love.
